    Stand Atlantic are an Australian rock/pop/punk band from Sydney, formed in 2014. The band consists of vocalist/guitarist Bonnie Fraser, bassist David Potter and drummer Jonno Panichi.

    Stand Atlantic gained prominence in the Australian music scene with the release of their demo EP, A Place Apart in 2015.[1] The band signed with Rude Records in 2017 and released a new single, 'Coffee at Midnight', that landed them positive reviews.[2][3] They released an EP, Sidewinder, in September 2017.

    Stand Atlantic have toured with international bands, New Found Glory, State Champs, As It Is, and This Wild Life along with popular national acts in With Confidence, Short Stack and Young Lions.

    Stand Atlantic started in 2014 as a four piece band, consisting of members Bonnie Fraser, David Potter, Jordan Jansons (drums) and Arthur Taak (guitar). They released their debut single, 'Breakaway',[4] accompanied by a fan-made lyric video.[5] The single was recorded at Broken Sound Studios.

    Line-up change, A Place Apart & Tours (2014-15)

    Stand Atlantic started in the studio during November 2014, working on their debut demo EP, A Place Apart. During this time Jordan left the band and was replaced by Jonno. The first single, 'Wasteland', was released in April 2015 with the full EP later the same month.[6] The EP was recorded by Rohan Kumar and mixed by Dave Petrovic (Tonight Alive & Hands Like Houses).[7] The band toured with As It Is,[8] State Champs[9] and Young Lions during 2015.

    Tours & line-up change (2016-17)

    In 2016, the band toured with With Confidence and At Sunset,[10] before joining Cute Is What We Aim For on their 10th anniversary tour of The Same Old Blood Rush with a New Touch album.[11] It was also announced that the band were to play at Bondi-Blitz.[12] They released a cover of Ariana Grande's hit single 'Break Free' on Ghost Killer Entertainment in June.[13] In September 2016, the band announced via a Facebook post, that Arthur had chosen to leave the band. The post also included news that they were working on new music with Stevie Knight at Electric Sun Studios. The band started 2017 touring with As It Is.[14]

    Rude Records & Sidewinder (2017 – 2018)

    On 21 June 2017, Stand Atlantic announced they had signed to Rude Records, becoming the first Australian band to do so.[15] The band announced later that day that their first single from the new EP, Coffee at Midnight, would be premiered on Triple J's short.fast.loud that night.[16]

    Stand Atlantic announced the Sidewinder EP the following week, with a release date set for 15 September 2017. On 23 July 2017, Stand Atlantic released the second single, 'Mess I Made',[17] through Hysteria Mag.[18]

    On 27 July 2017, they announced they would be supporting New Found Glory on their '20 Years of Pop/Punk' tour, playing at sold out shows across Australia.[19]

    The band released one more single before the release of the EP, the title track 'Sidewinder' in August.[20] Stand Atlantic were featured in the September issue of Rock Sound Magazine.[21]

    The EP peaked at #31 on the iTunes charts during release day.[22] In October 2017, Stand Atlantic announced they would be supporting ROAM on their European and UK tours,[23][24] starting in November. It was announced in November that Stand Atlantic would be supporting Knuckle Puck on their Australian tour in January 2018.[25] Stand Atlantic's EP, Sidewinder, placed #10 on Rock Sound's Top 50 Albums of 2017.[26]

    Stand Atlantic are featured in Kerrang's hottest bands of 2018[27]

    It was announced late February that Stand Atlantic would be playing Slam Dunk Festival later in 2018.[28]

    Hopeless Records, Lavender Bones & Debut album (2018-Present)

    On 4th September 2018, Stand Atlantic announced a brand new single, 'Lavender Bones', would premier on Triple J later that night.[29] A debut record was teased & Triple J appeared to post the albums name, 'Skinny Dipping' [30] Stand Atlantic announced that they had signed to Hopeless Records on the 5th of September 2018 & that their debut album, 'Skinny Dipping', would be released in October 2018.[31]

    Style and influences

    Will Cross of Rock Sound wrote "the trio have created an EP that’s assured, accessible and properly brilliant."[32] Caitlin Olsen of amnplify wrote "the EP throws back to mid-2000s pop punk with a contemporary alternative twist. It’s tight, it’s soulful, and it’s loaded with grit."[33]

    The band has stated influences from bands & artists such as Blink 182, The Story So Far, Justin Bieber, Silverchair, 1975 & Mooseblood.[34]
